Candyland Classroom

This years classroom theme is candy and chalkboard!

This wall has my 7 habit banner.

Here is my anchor chard board.  The Gum Drops are magnets.
This is where I will hang our anchor charts through out the year.
I like to place the charts on top of each other so that the kiddo's can flip through them as needed.
This board is located next to the writing center, I did this so that the kids can use the charts as a reference when writing.

Candy bouquet!

This is the door into the classroom!

Color Sorting

Aghhhh!   After I finished this and bought the pom poms, I realized I did not use the color yellow.  So the question of the day, is will my OCD set in and I will have to fix it or leave it be?

I created this little gem using toilet and paper towel tubes.  Painted them with craft paint.  I spray painted the box black.
Glued the tubes along the back and attached a sign.

Students will use large twisters to pick up the pom poms and put them into the correct tube.

Great for color recognition, sorting, counting and fine motor!

You can pick up your free copy of the sign I made by clicking on the sign itself.

Hoarder or Teacher

I was cleaning up one of our extra rooms, that I opted to use as storage.  When my daughter came in and told me I have a problem, I'm a hoarder.  I disagree I'm a teacher:) and even worse I teach pre-k, I can find a use for anything in time!!!

What do you think, are we hoarders?

Partner Talk

II've never really been good at introducing partner talk to my students.  So I have made it a goal this year.  Yes we will be doing partner talk in pre-k:).  Thanks to Kim Adsin at the I teach pre-k conference I have some ideas to use.

My favorite was the microphones.   The kiddo holding the microphone is the one talking while the other needs to pay attention and listen.

So I set off to buy blowup microphones at the Dollar Tree and realized I have the lamest Dollar Tree ever:( So I put my little brain to use and came up with a plan.

First I had my husband cut a piece of PVC pipe.  Each piece was 6" long he cut 12 total.

I spray painted them black.

Next, I took styrofoam balls and painted them a metallic gray.

After they dried I pressed the PVC pipe into the styrofoam ball to create a grove.

That I filled with hot glue and glued together, creating a microphone:)
