Here are a few of the Anchor Charts that we worked on during our Dental Unit!
First we talked about how many teeth we have, what theyt are named and where they are located.
We read the book "I Know Why I Brush My Teeth" by Kate Rowan
I love, love, love her books! They have a lot of great information that is age appropriate!
Our vocabulary words for the week where fluride, bacteria, plaque, enamel, dentin and pulp!
We created a part to whole anchor chart!
We talked about ways to take care of our teeth and why they are important.
How to Care for Your Teeth!
The clip art used in this anchor chart can be found below!
We completed the oh so ever popular egg experiment, using vinegar, coke and fluoride. We first predicted what would happen to each egg, at the end of the week we observed what happened to each egg during the week.
We had such a blast learning about our teeth and I was so over the basic bar graph that I decided to take the challenge of teaching a pie chart. It actually turned out great and the kiddo's really loved it! I started by providing each kiddo a tooth, they then wrote the number of teeth they had lost on the back. We sorted the teeth into piles and then taped them around the circle. The teeth on the outside of the circle represented the number of children that had lost that many of teeth.
Next, we drew lines and colored in the graph.
Last, we analyzed the data.
